Our Friendly Burton Dental Team

Looking at the important roles played by the members of our dental staff.

Although our Burton dental practice is called ‘Mike Allen’s Dental Practice’; one man, of course, does not a complete dental practice make. We thought, therefore, that it would be nice to take a look at the roles of each section of our dental team to give you an idea of how important each one is to the success of running an efficient and friendly family dental practice.

Principal dentist

As you might expect, Mike Allen is our principal dentist. This role is key to any successful practice, and, whilst the role also includes routine dental care, the principal dentist will generally either take responsibility for, or, at the very least, assist in the more complicated dental cases. Mike himself has worked in his own dental practice in Burton for over twenty years and is therefore well known to his patients. This is a great benefit for patients who are anxious about their dental visits as a familiar face helps to put them at ease.

Mike has not only studied general dental care but also dental implants and orthodontics. He is an extremely experienced dentist.

Associate dentist

This role is very similar to the above but may sometimes seek advice and guidance from the principal dentist in cases which are more complex. We are very fortunate that our associate dentist, Peter Reece, is also very experienced and similarly to Mike, our principal, has worked in dentistry for a number of years.

Hygienist

The role of the hygienist is sometimes downplayed in people’s minds when compared to the role of the dentist. Nothing could be further from the truth though and a dental hygienist plays a very important role in the prevention of serious oral health problems; in particular gum disease. Regular visits to our Burton dental hygienist greatly increases your chances of keeping strong and healthy teeth and gums for much longer.

We currently have two dental hygienists at our practice; Alison Lowe and Lindsey Reece-Jones and they are both key members of our team.

Dental Nurse

Our dental nurses carry out a number of important functions at our Burton practice. These vary widely and roles include the following:

Bookkeeping and administrative

Implant placement support

Radiography

Making appointments and greeting patients

General oral health care and dental work support

Currently, the members of our dental nursing team are Jane Pargeter, Sharron Markey, Lisa Cox, Anne Jollands, Cathy Griffiths and Susan Tivey – all valued and friendly team members.

Without each and every one of these roles, our dental practice would be less efficient and well run. We always aim to provide the best dental support for our Burton patients and every member of our team helps us to do this.
